Counting Premium works because communities agree to play nicely. These are the fair-play rules the bot enforces, and the basics expected from server members. They exist so the count never gets broken on purpose and everyone gets a turn.
Counting etiquette
While counting in a Counting Premium channel:
- No double-counting. The bot blocks back-to-back counts from the same user.
- Respect the cooldown. 5 minutes per user, 50 counts per day. Big enough that everyone gets a turn.
- One number per message. No multi-digit numbers, no math, no skipping ahead.
- Don't fight the rules. If the bot resets the count, accept it. It usually means a wrong number, a duplicate, or a cooldown — not a personal attack.
Out of bounds
The following are not allowed in Counting Premium channels:
- Cheating. Coordinating with friends to push the count, using alts, or scripting the count.
- Harassment. Using the count, reactions, or the bot's responses to insult, threaten, or brigade other members.
- Hate speech. Slurs or discriminatory language, whether aimed at a member or in the surrounding channel.
- NSFW content. Don't try to slip NSFW content into the count, channel name, theme, or custom background.
- Abusing the vote reward. Vote-farming, multi-accounting, or trading votes voids the reward.
Server admin tips
- Lock down the counting channel so the bot can read messages but random members can't mass-spam attempts.
- Check the bot's permissions before going live. A link to this page in your welcome channel is a good way to set expectations.
A note about counting
Counting is silly. It's a giant collaborative fidget spinner. Be kind to each other, enjoy the climb, and remember: a reset isn't the end of the world — it's a fresh start.
